Autonomous Reading and Creation of Digital Resources: Way to Strengthen the Cognitive Reserve

Education plays a fundamental and transversal role in people's lives, as it is a tool that helps create more just, equitable and tolerant societies. The 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda recognizes this, by including it not only as Objective N ° 4, which establishes “guaranteeing inclusive, equitable and quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all”, but also give it a prominence that goes through all other Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this context, and having as a frame of reference the Right to Education, it is that the authors of the following text present this proposal that considers reading as a competence and conceiving it rather than as an instrument, as a way to strengthen thinking better. Consequently, the promotion of autonomous reading in and out of the classroom becomes an ideal strategy to preserve the cognitive reserve healthy, so - through various exercises such as the creation of digital resources - is that you bet on strengthen the habit of reading as a protective factor of cognitive impairment.
