Attitudes in a Context of Learning English as a Foreign Language

This paper examines the result of a survey on 83 Anthropology, Medicine and Humanities English learning students at the University of Quintana Roo, in Southern Mexico. The survey focused on their attitudes towards English learning was adapted and adjusted according to Robert Gardner’s AMTB. The instrument explores the target language interest, parents’ motivation, and schooling evaluation. Data analysis indicates that students show positive attitudes on English learning, although an uncertain predisposition to integrative orientation and English learning. The study describes the attitudes university students have towards learning English experience in terms of their major.
