Wetlands are ecosystems of great environmental importance for the environmental services they provide, among which water purification stands out, improving its quality. However, in urban areas they are perceived in a negative
way and therefore their conservation is compromised. Therefore, the objective of this work was to identify the water
purification capacity of the wetland (AH) of The Molino of San Roque Park, as well as to know the perceptions of the surrounding community about conservation of this ecosystem. It was found that, according to the analysis of physical-chemical parameters such as temperature, pH, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and dissolved oxygen (DO), it still functions as a water purifier, even though the wetland is in degradation. As for the perception of the inhabitants about the wetland, it is not favorable for its restoration and conservation.
