In the processes of rehabilitation and inclusion of people with disabilities, support networks are generated that are consolidated in organizations, such as “Vida Independiente México (VIM)”, which has a rehabilitation and social inclusion model for people with motor disabilities. In this study, two populations were evaluated where the differentiating variable was to integrate or not the mentioned model. An observational, cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study was proposed; analyzes of means and frequencies were used (a p < 0.05 was considered significant). Fifty-five people with motor disabilities participated, who integrated the VIM model presented significantly greater functionality in activities of daily living and mobility, which could be credited to the teaching and learning processes that take place in the development of the model. It is important to consider peer support models such as VIM to increase the probability of success in the rehabilitation and inclusion of people with disabilities
